Museum Honors 125th Anniversary of Pratt

The Pratt County Historical Society Museum is honoring the 125th Anniversary of Pratt with a special exhibit in the Hess Room.

Visitors can view photos of Pratt from 1884-1889. They will also see a display of articles used in this period including woodworking tools, gun, household items, telegraph, scythe, grain grinder, a horn seed sower and a child’s wagon and tricycle.

This exhibit answers such questions as: What forms of transportation did people use to get to Pratt in 1884? Where was the original town site? What was the name of the newspaper? How many churches were there in Pratt in the first five years? How many graduates in the first high school class and what year did the graduate? Where were the schools located? What did homes and businesses look like? How did people light their homes and wash their clothes? Did Pratt have a fire department? What was going on in the United States and the world in 1884? Additional displays in the museum also reflect life in the first five years of Pratt.

The public is invited to view this exhibit at the museum, 208 South Ninnescah. The entire museum showcases the rich history of Pratt and Pratt County. Museum hours are Monday through Friday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is closed on July 4th. Admission is by donation.
